Gerakas Beach
The beach of Gerakas, is very long and wide, and it might be considered as one of the most beautiful beaches of the area.
This beach has been choosen by the Sea turtles Carretta – Caretta as a lying place. Gerakas belongs in the National Marine Park therefore the beach is protected. Here there are no watersposrts or Bars on the beach front. However, in a short distance from the beach, you may find several restaurants and Snack bars.
Alykanas Beach
Despite the relatively long distance from the city of Zakynthos, the beach of Alykanas has, during the last years been developed to a very attractive tourist sesort. When we visit the beaches of Amoudi and Alykanas, we immediately understand why this area is chosen more and more. Close to Alykanas, we find the resort of Alykes, a more cosmopolitanbut also interesting for the traveller area.
Gaidaros Beach (Limanaki)
The beach Gaidaros Just off the beach of Tsilivi. A part of belonging to the community of Planou and the other belongs to the community of Tragaki. The natural point that separates it is a river that flows in this creek. A small hill also separates Gaidaros beach from Tsilivi beach. Located 8 km northeast of the town of Zakynthos.
Consists of sand and in some places there are a few pebbles. The water is shallow, warm and crystal clear.It is well organized with sun beds and umbrellas and water sports. It is not very crowded and tourist traffic in the region is strong and which takes place just a few meters from the beach, is considered a quiet beach.
Dafni Beach
Dafni beach is a really beautifull, long and wide sandy beach, with a splendid view in the gulf of Laganas. Just across the beach, stands the small islet Pelouzo.
This is another place where the turtles Caretta – Careta lay their eggs. The beach of Dafni belongs also in the National Marine Park therefore it is protected.
Here there are o water sports. The small Taverns that operate there, are open only during daytime so that the turtles are not disturbed. The access in the beach of Dafni becomes from the central street of Vasilikos and is considered quiet difficult. You will have to drive 3 kilometres earth-road in order to access the beach. Despite this difficulty, the visitors are very attracted to this beach as its beauty is unique.
Makrys Gyalos Beach
Makrys Gialos is a small beach, in comparison with the other large beaches, with crystal deep waters.
The wild beauty of the surroundings makes this beach extremenely impressive.
In the tall waterworn rocks, small caves have been formed.
In the top of a cliff that stands above the beach, we can rest and eat in the small tavern that offers traditional greek dishes.
A diving school is also found nearby.
Limnionas Beach
Porto Limnionas rightly famous for its clear blue waters. The landscape is rocky and the coast (natural bay) is small and quiet. Will truly amaze you. The combination of mountain and sea landscape creates so attractive that its beauty can be described fairly heavenly.
Marathias Beach
At a short distance from the Lake of Keri, we meet the beach of Marathias with the pebble and spotless deep waters, offers absolute relaxation, as there are no bars or cafes on this beach.
Nearby, you may find several traditiona Greek Taverns.
Above the beach unfold slopes with olive trees, under bushy tops.
The access of the beach is considered quiet difficult as you should walk down a hill in order to reach it. Nevertheless, the unique beauty, makes this beach popular and dear to all the visitors. On the beach there are no bars or restaurants, therefore take care to carry with you all the necessary water and food for your stay there.
Tsilivi Beach
The last 10 years the area of Tsilivi has been developed and nowadays is a wonderfull tourist resort with a lot of visitors.
The large sandy beach with the shallow waters offers also beach front bars and snack bars, restaurants but also a great variety of watersports.
Across the southern utmost of the beach we find a small islet called Vodi (Ox). In the northern point of beach we see the Venetian Vardiola (old observatory). The northern winds that blow usually in the area make the beach cool and ideal for windsurfing.
For those that seek a quiet beach, in the end of village we find smaller sandy beaches which we can approach by taking the small streets that we meet in the main street of Tsilivi.
The street to the beach of Bouka leads us also to the remains of the Venetian Observatory, from where we can see the island of Kephalonia.
Porto Zorro Beach
The area of Basilikos includes a long coastal area that extends at length at the south-eastern side of island. It features many picturesque and sandy beaches.
The area has developed considerably the last years maintaining though a traditional colour.
All the beaches of this side of island are impressive and easily accessible. The rich vegetation reaches in may occasions the sea. Successively there is the beach of Kamina, the Porto Zoro Beach, the Ionian beach, the Banana beach, the Aghios Nikolaos and the Porto Roma beach. In almost all of them operates a small Taverna or a beach bar.
Despite the tourist growth, the area remains quiet underpopulated therefore we recommend that you have a kind of trasportaton, in oder for you to move around and visit all the beaches but also the several of traditional Taverns with the authentic Zakynthian cuisine.
What makes Vasilikos so attractive, is the combination of dense vegetation (mainly pines) with the blue of the sea. However, visitors choose to stay there mainly because of the natural beauty, the variety in sandy beaches and the serenity it offers.
